The Fabled Rooster specializes in seasonal, southern-inspired low country BBQ. We take great pride in the quality of our food, using only fresh, sustainable seafood and humanely-raised beef, chicken, and pork. 

Many of our recipes have been passed down through the generations over the last 100 years. Chef Shaun Holley takes these classics and infuses them with present day cooking techniques and technology. It’s southern BBQ history you can taste — right here in the North Loop of Minneapolis!

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Chef Shaun Holley learned how to cook southern comfort food out of his grandma’s kitchen. After moving to Minnesota and later graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, his blossoming culinary career got put on hiatus by another passion of his — serving as a sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard. He was deployed for Operation New Dawn, where he helped escort troops in and out of Iraq.


With the dream of becoming his own boss, Chef Holley returned home and started saving his money. He connected with a silent partner, also a veteran, and together they opened The Fabled Rooster food truck in 2016. Focused on locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, they found great success in Minneapolis and soon created their first brick and mortar location at Graze Provisions + Libations.



The Fabled Rooster has been recognized for having some of the tastiest food in Minnesota! We’re proud to say we’ve won awards for “Best Soul Food,” “Best Minneapolis Restaurant” and “Best BBQ.”
